From my earliest memories, drawing has been a constant in my life. As a shy child, it served as my refuge, a comforting space where I felt happy. My journey in the arts began with a two-year foundation course at Wigan Technical College, followed by a Fine Art Honours degree from Wolverhampton Polytechnic, where I studied under Knighton Hoskin and had the privilege of learning from visiting tutors like Paul Hempton and Anish Kapoor.
After completing my degree, I established my studio in Wolverhampton at the Eagle Works Studios. For several years, I worked as an Artist in Residence in schools throughout the Wigan area, collaborating with the Drumcroon Art Education Centre. During this period, I participated in numerous exhibitions, showing my work at venues such as the Mall Galleries, Leamington Spa Art Gallery, The Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, and the Drumcroon Art Centre.
My artistic direction shifted when I began collaborating with my husband, John Field, in designing and creating contemporary jewellery. For over thirty years, we have exhibited our work in esteemed art galleries and craft centres across the UK, including the Ruthin Craft Centre, Leeds City Art Gallery, Bluecoat Display Centre in Liverpool, Mostyn in Llandudno, The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, and more than fifty Dazzle contemporary jewellery exhibitions in cities like London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
Now, I am returning to my roots and embracing painting once again, following my true passion and relishing every moment. While my earlier works were primarily figurative, I have always had a passion for mark making and colour, which is now coming through in my new work.
